About Our Farm
|We are Barry and Linda Bolewicz. Our interest in fiber animals began when we moved to the country and friends gave us an orphaned Angora goat.
After a few years, we began breeding Pygora goats, a new breed just being established. A few years later, we added sheep.
We started attending the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, Oregon, carefully watching the wool judging, learning the characteristics of good fiber, and taking classes at the Gathering and at our community college. Eventually we entered our own wool in the very competitive show; we can usually count on taking home ribbons.
The alpacas joined the farm in 1993 with the puchase of two females. We now raise both huacayas and suris, colored and white. Though we don't emphasize the show ring, our alpacas have taken ribbons at the AFCNA national show, CABA, Heart of the Valley, Alpaca Marketplace, AWE, and other Northwest shows.
We belong to AOA, CABA, and AAWO. We serve on several committees and volunteer at local and national shows. In addition, Linda coordinated the Alpaca Country Faire and the AWE SpinOff, and Barry has been elected CABA's President and Secretary. We are also members and supporters of Alpaca Registry, Inc, the Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America, and the Cottage Industry Alpaca Breeders Association.
We place a strong emphasis on fiber, working to raise healthy alpacas that maintain fineness, uniformity, and staple length. We also utilize as much as we can ourselves, in addition to selling fleece, yarn, and alpaca products, some from AFCNA and some hand-made.
Our alpacas' bloodlines include Hemingway, Victor, Augusto, El Moustachio, Inca, Captain Morgan, Bruxo, and other noted Northwest herdsires. Our females are sold with reproductive and live birth guarantees and a rebreeding to your choice of our herdsires - or you may substitute a breeding for one of your own females.
We offer no-interest financing for one year. Longer terms and discounts are available for multiple purchases.
Our non-breeding fiber animals are halter trained, easy to manage, and retain their fleece quality for years.
Huacaya stud service includes a live birth guarantee, 60 days free board, and ultrasound confirmation of pregnancy. Our herdsires, co-owned with Alpacas of Oregon, are:
* AJ's Peruvian Champion, sired by PCA Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus. His grandsires are Hemingway and Camilio, and his crias live up to their distinguished pedigree.
* Obi-Wan Kenobi, AOO, a rose grey ribbon winner in halter, fleece, and composite classes, whose offspring are now winning ribbons of their own.
* ATV Carrera, black son of a multiple blue ribbon winner with plenty of black and grey in his pedigree, who took First and Reserve Champion at AWE and First at CABA.
We enjoy mentoring new and prospective breeders and can offer hands-on lessons in alpaca care and advice by phone or email. We are here to help in any way we can - to answer questions and share our experience.
Looking to buy or just looking - visitors are always welcome.
